Bar Buoy Cocktails & the Ninja Slushi Max: How to Make Perfect Frozen Cocktails

Bar Buoy Cocktails & the Ninja Slushi Max: How to Make Perfect Frozen Cocktails

There's something undeniably enjoyable about a frozen cocktail on a warm day.

Over the weekend we joined the QVC team for a live event, serving frozen Margaritas and Seabird Palomas from the Ninja Slushi Max. After several hundred samples (and plenty of requests for seconds), we can safely say the combination works brilliantly.

If you've recently bought a Ninja Slushi Max, are researching the Ninja Slushi, or are looking for the best cocktails to use in a frozen drink machine, here's everything we've learned about turning Bar Buoy's 1L Sharing Bottles into effortless frozen cocktails.

Can You Put Alcohol in a Ninja Slushi Max?

Yes.

One of the things we love about the Ninja Slushi Max is that it's designed to work with alcoholic drinks up to 20% ABV.

That's good news for us because all of our 1L Sharing Bottles sit comfortably within that range, with alcohol levels between 12.8% and 18% ABV.

That means no dilution, no complicated recipes and no measuring ingredients. Simply pour, freeze and enjoy.

We Tested It at a Live QVC Event

Before recommending anything, we like to test it properly.

At a recent QVC event, we served hundreds of frozen Margaritas and Seabird Palomas using the Ninja Slushi Max. The response was fantastic, with visitors returning for second (and sometimes third) samples throughout the day.

What struck us was how naturally the combination worked. The Ninja Slushi Max removes the effort, while our cocktails provide the balance, flavour and quality. Together, they create a frozen cocktail experience that feels premium but wonderfully easy.

Which Bar Buoy Cocktails Work Best in the Ninja Slushi Max?

We've experimented with the full range and four cocktails stand out.

Margarita

Our award-winning Margarita is probably the ultimate frozen cocktail.

Made with premium tequila, triple sec, lime, agave nectar and sea salt, it transforms into a bright, refreshing frozen serve that feels like summer in a glass.

Seabird Paloma

The surprise star of the weekend.

Our coastal twist on the classic Paloma combines Salcombe Gin, pink grapefruit, lime and agave nectar to create a frozen cocktail that's light, citrus-led and incredibly refreshing.

Pineapple Daiquiri

If you're looking for holiday-in-a-glass energy, this is the one.

Salcombe Island Street Rum, pineapple, lime and coconut create a tropical frozen cocktail that's dangerously easy to enjoy.

Bramble

Gin, blackberry and lemon work beautifully in the Ninja Slushi Max.

The fruit notes become even more pronounced and the result is a refreshing frozen cocktail with plenty of character.

Top Tips for Using Bar Buoy Cocktails in the Ninja Slushi Max

1. Use the Slushi Assist Button

This is the most important tip we can offer.

Alcohol doesn't freeze in the same way as fruit juice or water, so the Slushi Assist function becomes your best friend.

Don't be afraid to use it.

It helps maintain the right consistency and keeps everything moving smoothly through the machine.

2. Start With a Chilled Bottle

The colder your cocktail is when it goes into the machine, the quicker you'll be enjoying frozen drinks.

Pop your bottle in the fridge beforehand and let the Ninja Slushi Max do the rest.

3. Expect a Softer Texture

A cocktail slushie will never be quite as frozen as a non-alcoholic slushie.

That's simply the nature of alcohol.

The higher the alcohol content, the softer the finished texture will be.

Don't chase an impossible frozen-solid consistency. The slightly softer texture is exactly what makes an alcoholic slushie so enjoyable.

4. Your First Sip May Taste Stronger

This catches people out the first time.

As the cocktail freezes, the fruit juice freezes first while more of the alcohol remains in the liquid portion.

The result is that your first sip can taste a little stronger than the rest.

Give the machine time to circulate the drink and don't worry if it tastes slightly different at the beginning. It's all part of the fun.

5. Don't Overthink It

One of the reasons we created our 1L Sharing Bottles was to make premium cocktails effortless.

The same principle applies here.

No recipes.

No mixers.

No shopping list.

Just pour, freeze and enjoy.

Why the Combination Works So Well

At Bar Buoy we're obsessed with making authentic cocktails more accessible.

The Ninja Slushi Max does something very similar.

It takes something that traditionally requires time, equipment and effort and makes it simple to enjoy at home.

Whether you're hosting friends in the garden, enjoying a sunny afternoon by the water, or simply looking for something a little different for your next gathering, frozen cocktails are a brilliant way to bring people together.

That's what Bar Buoy has always been about.

Quality cocktails.

Shared moments.

Less effort, more enjoyment.
