Giving back
1% for the Planet
We are members of 1% for the Planet, which means one per cent of everything we sell, not our profits, goes to environmental causes. Since we started, that money has gone to Project Seagrass, a charity restoring seagrass meadows around the UK coast. Seagrass locks away carbon, shelters marine life and is disappearing fast, so it felt like the right place for a coastal brand to put its money.
Packaging
Everything we send out is packed without plastic. Our dispatch packaging is Flexi-hex, a paper honeycomb that is recyclable and biodegradable.
Surfers Against Sewage recognised us as a Plastic Free Business.
How we make it
Our spirits arrive in large reusable containers rather than bottles, so there is less to throw away before we have even started. Our suppliers are all in the South West, which keeps the miles short, and we choose them partly for how they work: Salcombe Distilling Co gives one per cent of Start Point gin sales to the Marine Conservation Society, and Hattiers Rum is B Corp certified and a fellow 1% for the Planet member.
At events and tastings we serve in paper cups and skip the straws.
